Hey, what's up gigging pros, it's shared. And today I want to share some marketing advice that I've been reading a lot about in several books that I thought really most musicians don't think of their music in this way. But if they did, and they started out with this, then it would help shape everything and it would make their lives a whole lot easier. So is it okay, if I share that with you? Okay, cool. So this specific piece of advice is, is one part of a larger strategy that I've been studying very heavily as I build BookLive and the Gigging ecrets book, and even growing y own String Quartet. And it's een super effective. And it's hinking about what market do ou serve. And there are, so I ot this info from Russell runson, one of the most amazing et of books that I've read s.com secrets, and expert ecrets and traffic secrets, hat's kind of the playbook that'm using. And all of those hings teach you how to build a usiness by serving your ideal ustomer. And don't let that care you. Because as a usician, you serve an ideal ustomer, you might not just ave thought about it yet. But here are people who are enefiting from your music. And f you realize that, and figure ut what motivates them, you'll igure out how to serve them etter, which in turn, makes you ore in demand, gets you more ookings, gets you more sales of our album gets you more sales f merch. And so figuring out hat market you're in, is ritical, because that's kind of he the Start With Why moment hy? Why do you do this? And if ou figure that out, everything hat you do following that ecomes easier. And so Russell runson says that there are hree markets total. And these re very broad, very generically ategorized. But the three arkets are that of health, ealth, and relationships. So ny product or service that we ut out into the world, which ur music is a service, the they an serve more than one, but it s the most effective if you are peaking to one of those three ategories, health, wealth, or elationships. So think about our music. Which of those three ategories? Would you say you erve? And I'll give some xamples just to kind of help ou think through that. But in he health market, when I think f musicians who serve the ealth market, the first thing hat comes to mind is music herapy. You know, somebody who ses their music, maybe plays uitar and sings and performs a edical treatment, using music s the vehicle for healing. ther health related music might e like somebody who accompanies oga, or even in a way, I guess, usic teachers, in a way are eaching students how to deal ith frustrating situations hrough music that could be ealth related. Now, the second ne is wealth. And when I'm hinking about wealth, I think bout how do you help somebody enerate wealth. And so the irst thing that comes to mind ith yours who uses music, to enerate wealth, I mean, a bar ses music, to attract more ustomers so that they spend oney on alcohol and food. So to e, a bar manager is typically n the wealth market. But it lso is complicated, because I hink a lot of bar managers who on't really run their business s well feel like they're more n the relationships business. nd that's why it gets onfusing, and I'm not going to o into that. I have a lot of houghts about bars, watch Bar escue, if you haven't, it's uch a fun show. Anyway, so the hird one, the third market is elationships. And who uses usic to improve relationships? o me, the thing that comes to ind is the wedding business. hat's all about relationships. ou know, my wedding String uartet serves the relationship arket because we help couples et their relationships on fire s they walk down the aisle to ive music. And we also help hem build relationships with heir friends and family who ome to attend. And they emember the wedding forever ecause there was live music here. So we've got three markets that music serves health, which again, was how does your music help people look good, feel good, and be more healthy? The second market is wealth, which is how does your music help somebody make money? And then the third one is relationship chips, which is how does your music help improve relationships that people have between each other? So, I'm issuing a challenge to you think about your music and your output. And I want you to think about and figure out which one of those three, do you serve? The most? Do you serve the health market? Do you serve the wealth market? Do you serve the relationships market? And once you figure that out, I want you to dig deep into that market and figure out how do you make all of your messaging your marketing, all the materials, you put out all of the emails that you write all of the stuff you say, on the phone? How do you serve that market? Better? How do you essentially amplify your positioning in that market, so that you can be more effective in the way that you sell whatever it is that you're selling? So think about that, and start to use that. And I'm curious, as to those of you who take me up on this challenge, how does this impact what you do? How does this impact your numbers?
